Safe zone explained for print files — Orange Print Singapore file-prep guide.

Safe Zone

In printing, the “safe zone” refers to the area within a design or document that is guaranteed to remain intact without being cut off during the trimming process. It ensures that important elements like text, logos, and critical graphics are not placed too close to the edge, where they risk being trimmed off. The safe zone is usually set slightly inward from the edge of the document, providing a margin of safety around the key content. This helps maintain the integrity and readability of the final printed piece.

The safe zone is the area where all important elements (text, logos, images) must stay within to avoid being trimmed off.

If the safe zone is 2mm on each side:
Final size: 89mm × 54mm

  • Safe width: 89mm – (2mm × 2) = 85mm
  • Safe height: 54mm – (2mm × 2) = 50mm

Anything outside this area risks being cut.

The size of the safe zone may vary for different print products. Please refer to the specific safe zone measurements provided in the product description. Note that we will not be liable for any cut-off issues resulting from improper placement of elements outside the safe zone.
